O presente artigo é resultado de uma pesquisa que, a partir do pensamento do filósofo Michel Foucault, tem como objetivo investigar as exigências que devem ser assumidas por uma educação capaz de promover uma atitude de modernidade. Tendo como contraponto a Época Clássica, entendida como o período em que o saber se constituía como pura representação, o saber moderno caracteriza-se pelo desaparecimento do sujeito universal enquanto fundamento do conhecimento e no reconhecimento do caráter provisório da verdade. Uma educação comprometida com a produção de novos saberes e formas de subjetividade implica na promoção de experiências capazes de produzir uma atitude crítica, entendida como a capacidade de interrogar a relação entre o poder, a verdade e seus efeitos sobre o sujeito.
