ADOLESCENCE, SUICIDE AND HELPLESSNESS: RESCUING BONDS, WORDS AND AFECTION IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Drawing on the intersection between mental health, psychoanalysis and geography, with the notion of territory as a guiding element, the article seeks to address the psychological suffering of adolescents, which has been documented through recurrent self-harming acts or even suicide. In a context marked by exclusion and silencing in Brazilian society, it discusses the intensification of the experience of helplessness during adolescence and highlights the importance of listening and support mechanisms within schools. It presents an intervention-research project based on psychoanalytic principles, in which workshops were carried out through graphic and narrative productions with two high school classes in a state school in Niterói. The study considers the various impasses in social relations presented by the students as a clinical-political issue in which the school is directly implicated.
