CONCEPTUAL REFLECTIONS ON THE HISTORY OF EDUCATIONAL POLICIES: THEORETICAL POSSIBILITIES AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF GRAMSCI

This study, situated within the field of the History of Education, aims to analyze the possibilities of using Gramscian theory in the investigation of the History of Educational Policies. Based on Antonio Gramsci's conception of the Expanded State, we examine how educational policies result from the interaction between political society and civil society, being permeated by hegemonic disputes. Methodologically, this is a theoretical essay based on a literature review, with emphasis on Gramsci’s work and studies that apply his theory to the analysis of education. The article argues that the Gramscian approach allows educational policies to be interpreted not only as formal state guidelines but also as instruments of ideological struggle and the construction of hegemony. Thus, it contributes to deepening historiographical analyses of the role of the State and civil society in structuring education.
