This paper explores the presence of literary texts, written by women, available inside a book national program (PNLD literário). The approach is quantitative and qualitative and it collects texts from 2020 and 2021 editions, respectively the final series from elementary school and high school, assaying gender representativity and theoretical-didactic directions from BNCC. The results show that, despite there is some diversity in the program, the presence of female authors is still limited, reflecting challenges of representativity. Although literature has been known as a critical formation tool, the equity regarding works selection needs to be improved.
