“REMEMBRANCE OF NATURE WITHIN THE SUBJECT”: CONTRIBUTIONS FROM CRITICAL THEORY TO RETHINK ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

In a current situation in which we are faced with the intensification of an unprecedented environmental crisis in history, a crisis strictly related to our predatory mode of production in relation to nature, it becomes necessary to think of ways to combat this established logic and direct our discourse towards criticism. There are multiple focuses that this combat and criticism could have, but the present research sought in Critical Theory, accumulated mainly in the figure of Theodor W. Adorno, a way of combating and criticizing the current one, focusing mainly on the complex relationship between subject and nature in modernity, and ending in the contributions that Critical Theory can make to think about a Critical Environmental Education as well.
