INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE IN THE AMAZONIAN CONTEXT: AN APPROACH AT THE INTERRELATION BETWEEN LINGUISTIC PRACTICES, KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MEDICINAL PLANTS AND DIALOGUES WITH KOKAMA SPIRITUAL BEINGS

In this paper, we propose a discussion regarding the features of knowledge produced by Kokama elders and which, through them, are passed on to subsequent generations. Regarding the methodological proposal, the basic research of this article has a qualitative approach, with a case study and inter views with three Kokama elders who are considered producers of knowledge, promoting inter relations between Kokama/Portuguese linguistic practices, with medicinal plants and with the spiritual beings with whom “pajés”and“benzedores”dialogue. Finally, the results of the study show the importance of the elders for the Kokama people, especially in what corresponds to the dialogue with colonized cultures, producing new meanings for Kokama cultural practices.
