“INOCENTES EXPOSTOS”: O ABANDONO DE CRIANÇAS NA PROVÍNCIA DE GOIÁS NO SÉCULO XIX

A prática de abandonar crianças não é um fenômeno recente. No decorrer da história é notável como o abandono de crianças permeia diferentes sociedades por inúmeros motivos. No Brasil, esse costume veio com a colonização, pois não há nada que comprove que os indígenas que aqui viviam abandonavam suas crianças. Em Goiás, os registros de batismo indicam que havia um número limitado de crianças abandonadas na Província, fato que diferencia Goiás de outras regiões do Brasil, onde era considerável o número de casos de abandono nas chamadas rodas dos expostos. Um dos fatores a que se deve o não abandono na sociedade goiana é a influência dos indígenas que habitavam a região e que mantinham uma relação de extrema afetividade com suas crianças. Apesar de não ser comum o abandono de crianças por famílias goianas, práticas como a adoção forçada de crianças indígenas, a utilização da mão-de-obra dos chamados “bobos” e a adoção de crianças negras foram muito utilizadas no período em questão.Downloads
