Abstract

This paper presents the results of a project which investigates communication processes in Distance Education and the possibility of a relationship between the formation offered to university teachers and the pedagogical mediation undertaken by them in their courses. Teachers were interviewed and then an analysis was carried out of texts available online in teaching and learning virtual environments of the licentiate courses at Brazil’s Open University at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, between 2008 and 2009. It was concluded that, as the number of centers increased, there was a reduction in direct contact between teachers and students. On the other hand, teachers are taking more responsibility for the course content and delegating to tutors the pedagogical mediation that occurs in communication tools in teaching and learning virtual environments.

Dulce Márcia Cruz, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

Dulce Márcia Cruz é professora adjunta no Departamento de Metodologia de Ensino (MEN), dos cursos a distância da Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB) e das linhas Educação e Comunicação e Ensino e Formação de Educadores do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação do Centro de Ciências da Educação (PPGE/CED) da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Formada em Comunicação Social (Rádio e TV) pela FAAP/SP, trabalhou durante quase 10 anos na produção de programas educativos na TV Cultura de São Paulo. Mestre em Sociologia Política pela UFSC, onde pesquisou uma importante rede regional de televisão do sul do país, a Rede Brasil Sul. Doutora em Engenharia de Produção, também pela UFSC, com uma investigação sobre a formação docente para a videoconferência na educação a distância. Ministra aulas na graduação na área de Educação e Mídias; no Programa de Formação Docente (PROFOR), da UFSC; ministra o curso A linguagem audiovisual e o uso das mídias na educação presencial e a distância – EAD, para professores da UFSC, e no mestrado e doutorado do PPGE/ UFSC, as disciplinas de Formação Docente e EAD e Linguagem e Comunicação na Educação a Distância. Com mais de 30 dissertações de mestrado orientadas e defendidas, orienta estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação na interface entre a Comunicação, a Educação e a Linguagem (blogs; jogos eletrônicos e educação; didática digital; formação docente e dialogia na educação a distância). Os temas com as quais tem experiência de pesquisa e sobre os quais vem dando pareceres para revistas, projetos de pesquisa e congressos estão voltados ao uso das tecnologias de informação e comunicação na educação presencial e a distância; processos de apropriação de inovação tecnológica; linguagens e narrativas nas diferentes ferramentas da cibercultura. É bolsista produtividade CNPq com um projeto de pesquisa sobre formação docente para a educação a distância.
