Abstract

The ancylostomides are hematophagous nematodes parasites of the small intestine, being able to cause retardation in the growth, anorexy, apathy, anemia and death. In the man, some species as Ancylostoma caninum, A. braziliense and A. tubaeforme can cause cutaneous larva migrans, when the larvae infects of third period of stage penetrate actively the skin. The objective of this work was to detect the parasitism for ancylostomides in excrements of domiciliated and asymptomatic dogs in Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ, in view of the proximity of the conviviality of these animals with the man. With this intention, faecal samples of 68 dogs had been collected, being 30 (44.12%) considered parasitized through stool parasitology using the method of Willis-Molley.
