The aim of the article is to investigate whether there is a connection between the presence of international students in a country and its position in the World-System, according to the theoretical assumptions of Immanuel Wallerstein. The data used were obtained from the websites of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Countries were positioned in the World-System based on the Human Development Index (HDI) and the number of international students they attract. The results show that there is a correlation between the position each country holds in the World-System and its ability to attract international students
