This paper aims to discuss the relationships between democratic management and the principles of Rural Education to point out strategies of resistance to the capitalist logic of education and management, contributing to discussions that consider the specificities of rural people and the historical construct forged by the Rural Education movement in Brazil. Bibliographic research and analysis of documents from the State Secretariat of Education regarding democratic management in schools are based on Historical-dialectical Materialism. Findings show the importance of emancipatory and transformative democratic management, developing possibilities for change in the school environment and society with the subjects. Therefore, modifying social relations at school is necessary, making them horizontal through participation in different mechanisms and intentions that allow participants to be organized collectively.
Keywords: Democratic Management; Rural Education; Social Relations; Human Emancipation.
