This paper sumarizes and discusses part of the bibliographical survey of the Master of Arts dissertation by Alexandre Ruger (2007). The afore mentioned survey served as subsidy in the constitution of theoretical grounds for the research and for the pedagogical practice carried out by the master’s degree student in the courses of musical awareness for students of Full Teaching Certification in the IA-UNESP, as well as for the Theater Group Atrás do Grito. In the carried out survey some professionals of the area were mentioned, among them: Konstantin Stanislavski, Antonin Artaud, Klauss Vianna, Jerzy Grotowski, Jacques Copeau, Jacques Lecoq and Etienne-Marcel Decroux. Although the mentioned authors’ argumentation does not verbally express the need for a musical preparation for actors, they induce the actor to obtain a theatrical education which would promote the creativity, the expressiveness and the opening of perceptive channels, skills which can be intensified by means of a musical awareness work. Keywords: Musical awareness; Theater arts; Body coordination.
