THE TEACHING OF ETHNICI-RACIAL RELATIONS IN THE GEOGRAPHICAL CONTENTS IN BASIC EDUCATION

This article discusses the importance of teaching ethnic-racial relations in basic education, based on geographic content that can help to adequately address this issue and demystify racial relations in Brazil and stereotypes about black people resulting from structural racism. For this approach, we carried out a literature review with important reflections on education for ethnic-racial relations in a broad sense, consultation and analysis of the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC) as the main guiding curriculum document in basic education in Goiás, and we seek to strengthen the debate on the importance of linking ethnic-racial themes to geographic content in elementary education in the state of Goiás. The teaching of Geography, as well as other human sciences, can provide a better understanding of racial relations in Brazilian society, by taking advantage of the guidelines Current curricula have elaborated on the importance of dealing with the ethnic-racial theme in its spatial dimension.
