The Collective Health Residency with an emphasis on Agroecology at the University of Pernambuco operates within the territories of traditional and rural communities. This paper reports the experiential approach to fostering rural permanence through rural education and cultural valorization. The initiative held a "Career Fair" as a participatory methodology to promote student autonomy and protagonist. Rural Education that fosters participation, autonomy, critical thinking, and the appreciation of local culture is essential for pushing transformation. Integrating cultural expressions into educational settings helps to promote local knowledge and traditions, reinforces community identity, and encourages young people to remain in rural areas. This initiative emphasized the role of schools as spaces for valuing local culture, strengthened collaboration between social institutions, and positioned the youth as the protagonist of their history.
