Internship in teaching
a university extension perspective in a closed regime criminal establishment

The presente article aims to introducing the deployment of the practices presented in a teaching postgraduate program by the Postgraduate Program - Professional Master’s Degree - Health Teaching (PPGES), the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), Campus of Dourados / MS. The stage was realized with the eighth period students of undergraduate nursing course, through exten-sion project in a closed prison system, in the health vigilance discipli-ne. The results demonstrated the strengthening society-university relations, as well as the student’s interaction with real problem si-tuations in the community, in this case, approaching the challenges of discussing health and prison population, a scenario that tends to representations of discrimination and exclusion by society.
