this article is a cutout of a work in progress about the development of educational material for marimbist with a focus on developing skills in movement and posture after learning and analysing a selection of advanced works for marimba that have particular moments/sections where the player can improve his/her attention to possibilities in the body movements and postures. Here we bring some of the literature background found related to body movements and postures attached to the music/arts area, linking this literature to the experience of learning said marimba works and to the results of non-published composed material – technical exercises and etudes based on Brazilian and German popular songs – that focuses on the marimbist’s development of possibilities regarding movement and posture during marimba performance. With this work we expect to contribute to the existing – though scarce, once compared to other musical instruments – method literature for the marimba, considering even publishing the musical material as a separated material and in several languages to enable accessibility for most students around the globe.
