This article aims to discuss how understanding cognitive and sociocognitive processes can contribute to optimizing the learning environment in the context of music bands. In this proposal, a brief description of the music band scene in Brazil is presented; the basic concepts of neuropsychology and its mechanisms of attention, memory and executive functions; and the guiding aspects of Social Cognitive Theory, according to Albert Bandura. The study of this topic is unprecedented in the research that has been published in recent years on music bands in Brazil (Kandler; Figueiredo, 2010; Silva, et al., 2023). The methodology consisted of theoretical-bibliographical research. As a result, a discussion session was held that addressed the central points of this research. Finally, it was found that Neuropsychology and Social Cognitive Theory can favor the learning environment of musical bands, providing a better understanding of the processes involved in the acquisition and retention of new knowledge.
