Abstract

This paper reports on the results of a research study aiming to determine the relationship between airway anatomy and performance skills of trumpet players.

In this study, the research team analyzed 3D CBCT scans of 66 trumpet players measuring various aspects of their airway anatomy, and made quantitative assessment of technical performance skills of the same players. Then, they compared the measurements and scores of the skills test.

Data analyzes showed a number of significant correlations between various airway measurements and skills. Further studies need to be conducted for better understanding of these relationships.
