Con te partirò. Sightseeing cruises: soundscapes and musical landscapes in transit

From the concept of "soundscape" (Schafer, 2001) we study the role of musical tracks in tourist cruises and their function as entertainment, within the framework of a "leisure culture" (Morin, 1969). Some generalities are presented about the cruises since the Belle Époque, from the apogee to the decline and the revival from the end of the twentieth century. From records collected in the Prata circuit, it is analyzed how the forms of listening and musical consumption occur. Being the musical tracks components of the soundscape and, consequently, of everyday life, this study is justified, as it contributes to better understand the contemporaneity
