Abstract

The goal of this article is to identify in which ways the use of technologies made possible new forms of musical experience, transforming the means of access to musical content. Some aspects of the evolution of technology are discussed, focusing musical listening and the practices involved in composition and performance since the beginning of the twentieth century. Three historical moments were selected: the appearance of music notation, of recorded sound, and of the possibilities of digitalization of music. As a conclusion, we have that technologies are not neutral, because they always bring changes in thinking and provoke new worldviews.
