MTV, musical success and alternative scene

The paper argues, from the Political Economy of Communication, about the musical production media processes in the MTV Brazil channel, the alternative scene and the piracy. These movements become related with the technological innovation that works as reinforcement of the hegemonic environment. The relations between the TV companies and other cultural organizations are debated. The article identifies the media processes conformed by projects of marketing, being publicized the musical interests of singers and groups with strong base of economic support.Keywords: Political Economy of Communication; Media processes; Communication policies.
