Condições de oferta e de atendimento escolar em duas escolas de ensino médio da rede pública do Ceará

The article intends to analyze two public state high schools and their treatment and offering conditions: one offers
a part-time educational program and the other one, a full-time vocational school program. Both schools are located
in the suburbs of the city of Fortaleza, Ceará. The discussion is a comparative research between two public state
schools and it analyses the changes and conditions in high school education offer that has happenned in Ceará the
last fifteen years. The research considers as fundamental for its studies the enrollments, the time scheduled, the
price of lesson time per hour, infrastructure, the students’ socioeconomic rates, school performance rates, the
distortion between age and grades, and the Development Rate of Primary Education (IDEB). In order to analize
the data, it was used descriptive estatistics combined with percentage and also the use of the Excel program to
draw charts. The results show that the variety of offering conditions are in favor of the full-time vocational school.
These results can be related to some of the variables conditions that were analyzed such as infrastructure, price of
lesson time per hour, enrollments, among others. At the end, it is brought up a discussion about the many ways to
offer high school education in public state schools in Ceará and the equality and equity of educational opportunities
that public state schools are providing or not.
