Trabalho docente na Educação Infantil: análise sobre as diretrizes de São Bernardo do Campo (SP)

Although there is a general agreement among Early Childhood Education scholarsthat caring and educating should
be inseparable things, the call notices for public tenders sometimes presents a dichotomous conception of these
axes. The main aim of this research is to get a better understanding about how the class assistant in São Bernardo
do Campo's Early Childhood Education has been developing her job, in order to understand her real status at that
position mainly concerning to care and education. The methodology used on this research consists of documental
analysis, taking into account the official documents of the referred city. Moreover, we aimed to identify the
municipality's conception on the real job function of the class education assistant, according to the aforementioned
documents. The results indicated some inconsistencies between the commitments undertaken in the official
documents and the way in which the management of positions shows up, especially concerning the job position of
class assistant, revealing vision and welfarism practices in the education, especially related to education and care
in the stage of Early Childhood Education.
