The objective of this article is to reflect on the concept of quilombo and aquilombamento based on the writings, experiences, and memories of Beatriz Nascimento (2021). We sought to relate the quilombo with the university, as both constitute territories of connections and, above all, of the construction of teaching and learning practices. This research methodologically is qualitative, of an applied nature, and employed the bibliographic documentary review methods, in conjunction with the writing of Conceição Evaristo (2017). As the main theoretical framework, we used the writings of author Beatriz Nascimento (2021). The possible conclusions highlight the importance of working on Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture in Higher Education, offering a basis for teachers' practice through the university curriculum. This ecology of knowledge (Santos, 2010) provides opportunities for dialogues between teaching, research, and extension that dialogue in the spaces of the school, university, and quilombo.
