Abstract

With several years of teaching practice at the Indigenous Intercultural University of Michoacán, the authors reflect on the responses that the Institution has given to Indigenous or vulnerable young people who live in the Eastern Region of the State regarding how to incorporate their worldviews and knowledge into their teaching-learning process in higher education. This reflection starts from the analysis of the concept of interculturality, and the complexity that it has meant for different authors; defining it, incorporating pedagogical and didactic resources to the educational processes of all levels, designing plans and programs of the various degrees so that the curricula contain the worldviews and knowledge of the native peoples, that the contents cover the particular vision about the themes, respond to the demands and rights of native peoples, promote and revitalize the use of languages, respect for their cultures, openness to authentic dialogue of their worldviews and knowledge with universal knowledge, to jointly and democratically build and achieve a full exercise of the so-called interculturality.
