Abstract

Comic books have many uses, from analyzing the social context in which they were published to educational material, which has been widely used for generations. Comics open a way to understanding the world around us, as well as new pathways for us to move towards adulthood, both interconnected with the social diversity in which we find ourselves. As one of the ways of getting to know the Brazilian people and their diversity, comics in the classroom can be worked on from the linguistic concept of each place - regionalism, for example - and the customs practiced by them, as is the case with people who don’t live in big cities.  One of the iconic comic book characters, Chico Bento, carries these and other values pointed out in these lines so far, bringing with him the social conscience in which he is inserted. This article aims to look at the comic strips, specifically Chico Bento, used in the classroom in the early years of elementary school at the Pedro Rodrigues Neto and Benedito Pinto Municipal School, in the district of Cangas, located in the city of Santa Rosa, in Tocantins. The didactic sequence, the highlight of this study, was carried out in an interdisciplinary way to analyze, among other things, the way of life of rural men.
