This article presents an excerpt from the research carried out as part of the Professional Master's Degree in Countryside Education at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia. The investigation arose when it was identified that the school recognized by the guidelines as a School of the Countryside maintained its Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) without any relation to the peasant reality. Its aim was to contribute to the re-signification of the PPP, based on the incorporation of peasant knowledge and practices. We used participant observation, document analysis, a questionnaire, a Culture Circle and conversation circles as tools for reading and problematizing reality. The research shows that, even though the rural school is established along regular lines, it is possible to build emancipatory pedagogical practices, where the specificities of rural subjects are decisive in the construction of a PPP that is an instrument of struggle and a guide for educational practices.
