Abstract

Science teaching, especially in the context of rural schools, needs to be considered from the perspective of expanding the curriculum to meet the specific needs of the individuals who live in the countryside. Thus, rural education is understood as a place where knowledge is produced based on the direct relationship with the culture that individuals establish among themselves and with the environment in which they live. From this perspective, we intend to discuss and analyze how the school curriculum addresses issues related to the demands of rural education, through an analysis of articles and theses that address this theme. To this end, research was conducted on journal portals through SciELO and BDTD, using keywords. These results indicate the need to expand the curriculum designed for the countryside that integrates and values the culture and knowledge contained within this context.
