LABOR RIGHTS OF FAMILY FARMERS IN LIGHT OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs)

Abstract

Linked to the SOLIDARIS project, this study comes from university extension actions aimed at recognizing the labor rights of farmers in Paraíba through rural associations. We seek to understand rural associations' relevance in farmers' rights acknowledgment and their influence in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The data was constructed through a conversation with associated farmers, in addition to a semi-structured interview with the leader of this organization. The results enabled us to recognize the relevance of rural associations in valuing agricultural activities, along with understanding and pursuing labor rights for rural workers and their links with the SDGs. We conclude that the association space has guaranteed the development of some SDGs, although there is a need to fulfill and verify other rights of rural workers.

Francisco Ferreira Dantas Filho. Professor no Departamento de Química da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (DQ-UEPB, Campina Grande-PB) desde 2011.  Graduado em Química, Mestre em Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente e Doutor em Engenharia de Processos. É professor no Programa de Pós-graduação em Ensino de Ciências e Matemática (PPGECM/UEPB) nos cursos de Mestrado e Doutorado. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Metodologias para a Educação em Química (GPMEQ/UEPB).

Renato Fonseca de Almeida da Gama, Universidade Mauricio de Nassau, Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brasil

Possui Graduação em Direito pela Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (2011) e pós-graduação em Direito do Trabalho pelo Centro Universitário Internacional (2016).

Atualmente é professor titular de Direito Processual do Trabalho e Prática Forense Trabalhista da Universidade Maurício de Nassau - Campina Grande, além de ser professor convidado em várias Pós-Graduações. É Advogado - Lucena Gama Advogados -. Presidente da Comissão de Direito do Trabalho da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil na Subseção de Campina Grande/PB, triênio 2022/2024. Licenciada em Química pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba - Campus II (2015 - 2020), tendo seu Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso intitulado "Mulheres da Química: apagamento(?) do feminino em narrativas circulantes no meio científico". Mestra em Ensino de Ciências e Educação Matemática (2023) pela Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (PPGECEM/UEPB) com dissertação intitulada "As mãos, a arte, a ciência: modelando diálogos entre os saberes populares e os conhecimentos químicos a partir do barro". Atualmente é professora do departamento de Química da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB), além de aluna de Doutorado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino da Rede Nordeste de Ensino (RENOEN), vinculada ao polo UEPB.
