AN EXPERIENCE REPORT ON UNIVERSITY EXTENSION IN THE TIA EGLE PROJECT

Abstract

This article presents the experience report of students participating in the Tutorial Education Program (PET) at the Federal University of São Paulo, Baixada Santista Campus, members of the PET Group Educação Popular: Creating and Recreating Social Reality and extension workers from Frente Culturas e Educação in Human Rights. The report aims to share the teaching-research-extension process experienced through the Tia Egle Project, located in the Jardim Castelo neighborhood in the city of Santos. From the experience report, it is possible to see the relevance of extension action for student training and the community involved. The theoretical framework was based on the debate on the concept of liberating education by Freire (1987); Hooks (2017); participation of children and adolescents (Pini; Fávero; Silva, 2020), popular education (Brandão, 2006) and territory (Santos, 1988).

Graduanda em Serviço Social na Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Campus Baixada Santista. Foi extensionista no primeiro semestre de 2023 no projeto Vozes das Crianças, Adolescentes e Jovens: Educação em Direitos Humanos pelo Grupo de Estudo, Pesquisa e Extensão sobre Crianças, Adolescentes e Família (GCAF) na Unifesp. Atualmente atua no Programa de Educação Tutorial (PET) Educação Popular: Criando e Recriando a Realidade Social, onde atua na Frente Culturas e Educação em Direitos Humanos, promovendo debates sobre direitos humanos com crianças e adolescentes do Projeto Tia Egle, localizado no município de Santos (SP). Tem interesse pelas temáticas da educação popular, direitos humanos e juventudes.
