Currently, fake news spread at such an overwhelming speed that they seem to confirm, in the context of digital culture, the popular saying that a constantly repeated lie becomes truthful. Given the context of digital culture, the objective of this article is to argue that the proliferation of so-called fake news becomes a decisive element for the revitalization of what Adorno defined as semi-formation. Thus, the methodology used was based on the analysis of texts on the relationship between the cultural industry and the production of fake newsIt is concluded that the critical reflection of the process of production and reproduction of fake news becomes a fundamental condition for the possibility of the existence of a society based on democratic practices.
