Abstract:The article aimed to analyze one of the actions promoted under the Extension Project "Sharing Readings", created in 2019 as a proposal for interlocution of knowledge between university and community. In 2020, with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, the project reinvented itself and invested in a writing contest called "Productions in Time of Isolation". The experience took on a proportion never imagined, the contest received 678 texts, written in the most different genres and styles, by people from several cities in Brazil and other countries, with ages ranging from over seventy, at one end, to six years old, at the other. We derived an analysis of the process of organizing all the stages of the contest and the challenges of a completely new practice for everyone in a moment of uncertainty, supported especially in Santos (2004, 2013) and Freire (1980), authors who bet on extension as the privileged space for the expansion of the social reach of the university and the transformation of all involved. As a result of our action, we sought in the voice of the participants, authors of the texts, the expression of how special and diverse was the experience of this sharing, which also materializes in the form of a book with 31 texts selected and available to the public.
