Abstract

This paper aims to present the work done by the Extension Project “Literature on Stage: art-education in school space” in 2019 and its impact on the community in which it is located. It also aims to present an analysis of the poem “Bernardo”, by Manoel de Barros, using the theoretical assumptions of Reception Aesthetics (ISER, 1996 and 1999; JAUSS, 1994) as a way to reflect about the poem’s reception at the Cultural Exhibition organized by undergraduate and post-graduate students from UNESP. Through this experience, the visitors to the event have entered an acclimatized room whose theme was the “Bernardo” poem. The organizers aimed to create a sympathetic atmosphere to its visitors, making them feel as if they were in the poem and were witnesses of Bernardo’s actions of composing the dawn. This room has had specific lights and audiovisual resources, besides the musical version of the poem. Among those interviewed, expectations about the event were exceeded, proving that the enjoyment of art can sensitize different people.
