Deep changes in the interactivity mode and in the recons-truction of knowledge within the so-called post-truth era have cau-sed the mass dissemination of false news, or rather, the notorious fake news. The scenario has the biggest relevance on research on fake news in lessons on the portuguese language in fundamental education through discourse genres that confront such a practice. Current paper discusses the manner a set of handbooks on portu-guese in the last years of primary education, namely the set used in the municipal teaching network of Campo Grande MS Brazil, deals with the fake news theme, foregrounded on research on the phe-nomenon within post-truth conditions and in studies on critical li-teracies. Analyses show a superficial approach to the theme, only slightly committed with critical literacies and the development of transforming agency on social and oppressive issues, such as those derived from sharing fabricated information.
