Abstract

This experience report deals with the extension action of the project “Social distancing in networking: communication stra-tegies for micro and small companies in the context of the Coro-navirus pandemic”. It has been developed by professors, students and technical-administrative workers from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). The action was proposed in view of the mo-ment of the present social and economic fragility with the objective of helping micro and small companies as well as formal and infor-mal workers from Frederico Westphalen (RS) in order to streng-then the relationship with customers and promote sales. Based on the Communication and Work areas of the UFSM Extension Policy, the action was carried out by the team through communication consultancies via telephone calls, whatsapp messages, e-mails and the website of the project itself. From April to August 2020, ten mi-croentrepreneurs from nine areas of business were consulted, to whom guidance and promotions, posts and graphic materials for digital media were produced. This has positively impacted on the income generated and the survival of the enterprise, which contri-butes to regional development.
