This article aims to understand the theoretical principles of the social perspective and critical approach to literacies through the bias of the ideological model proposed by Street (2014) and to reflect on the perspectives and challenges to multiliteracies in cyber-culture. The theoretical study represents the effort to point out the constitutive elements of multiliteracies in contemporary culture: so-cial practices, literacy events and communicative practices and their languages, in dialogue with cybercultural practices at the university. The study shows that the multiple, heterogeneous and multifaceted character of multiliteracies in cyberculture institutes social and edu-cational practices that relate to culture, power and discourse and converge several potentialities for the development of critical know-ledge and knowledge.
