Abstract

First-aid is understood as the initial care provided to the victims of an accident or sudden illness, which allows a clinical stabilization of the victim, preventing the worsening of injuries and minimizing the appearance of sequelae. The objective of this study was to promote emergency preparedness in schools by first response group. The extension was carried out in three public schools in the city of Cajazeiras-PB, from September to December 2018, with actions aimed at students and teachers of these institutions. The actions were given through oral presentations, lectures and practical classes that included subjects such as: gagging, cardiac arrest, drowning, fainting, electric shock and bleeding. The study made possible the social transformation and the production of knowledge, enabling all those involved to exercise their citizenship by promoting a critical reflection on issues relevant to our society.
