Although he was an important character for the flute in Brazil in the 19th century, there are still few researches dedicated to detailing the possible contributions of Mathieu-André Reichert (1830-1880) to the practice and to the historical trajectory of the instrument in the country, a significant gap because it is a repertoire that possibly expresses, through the flute, a “transitive identity” (LLANOS, 2018, p. 96) whose contribution to Brazilian music seems not to have been occasional. By dialoguing with the available literature and conducting a hemerographic survey of sources not yet discussed, the article proposes a "transitive" reading around Reichert's trajectory and works, seeking to demonstrate how one of his best-known pieces – A Faceira – circulated indistinctly between theaters, private soirees and “choro” notebooks.
