Abstract

In the year that marks 250 years since the birth of João José Baldi, the present study reveals the pedagogical strand of this Portuguese composer. In order to identify the presence of didactic elements in his works for keyboard instruments, a biographical research, a survey of the respective works and a study and comparison of the sources were performed, as well as a musical analysis based on a grid elaborated from the Sonata Theory of Hepokoski & Darcy. The study allowed to discover new biographical information and to identify the presence of didactic elements and of musical and extra-musical elements that indicate a pedagogical purpose in the composition of these works.

Mafalda Nejmeddine, Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical - Universidade de Évora

Cravista, Doutora em Música e Musicologia na especialidade de Interpretação pela Universidade de Évora, especialista em música antiga portuguesa, nomeadamente a sonata portuguesa para tecla. Desenvolveu uma série de trabalhos que envolveram a investigação, a interpretação e a divulgação do repertório português para tecla do século XVIII, entre os quais se encontram a gravação e a edição da partitura da coleção Sei Sonate per Cembalo de Alberto José Gomes da Silva. É investigadora do Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical (CESEM) no polo da Universidade de Évora.
