SCIENCE AND ART – THEORY AND MUSICAL EXPERIENCE AS AN ASSISTANCE TO SPEECH THERAPIST EDUCATION

The Speech-Language therapist needs musical capacitation to understand his work in vocal rehabilitation in order to develop some educative and therapeutic activities, because it uses concepts that come from singing arts. This study evaluates the impact of one discipline over the musical perception on six students of Speech-Language Therapy´s program. The results were analyzed from a questionnaire identifying the effectivity of knowledge acquired. It concludes that the experience and notions in musical theory assist in the comprehension and execution of vocal exercises, the students perceived themselves behind in the musical knowledge skills and the importance of the discipline was emphasized.Keywords: Speech-Language Therapy; Music; Education.
