Abstract

This article presents an analysis of Osvaldo Lacerda´s works for piano and a classification according to its difficulties. Through this analysis the works were divided into three levels based on parameters used by Saloméa Gandelmann and Marienne Uszler which discusses the concept of difficulty, suggesting the following division: “lower,” “intermediate,” and “advanced” levels. Lacerda was chosen for being a composer who worries with the didactical purposes of his compositions and for the Brazilian nationalistic melodic aspects of the pieces. This article is intended to provide teaching material which uses Brazilian cultural elements in the approach of inherent aspects of pianistic performance.
Keywords: Osvaldo Lacerda; Works for piano; Teaching repertoire; Brazilian culture aspects.
