Articles about musical perception were analysed in order to know how this issue has been treated in different fields of action, as the practices in music schools, in universities and in theoretical discussions. The historical and cultural perspective of Psychology allows us to solve the problem found in the analysed articles (BERNARDES, 2001 and GROSSI, 2001), i. e., the neglected historical aspects in human perception development. The main contribution of this article, besides providing a discussion about musical perception development, allows a better understanding of music as an essencial factor in individual education.KEY-WORDS: Musical perception. Musical education. Historical-cultural Psychology.
