CONTRIBUTIONS OF PAULO FREIRE’S METHOD TO THE LITERACY OF BLIND ADULTS

The study analyses the contributions of Paulo Freire’s method to the literacy of blind adults, considers emancipation and the overcoming of writing and reading, to seek na inclusive and liberating education. With a qualitative approch, it is uses the case study as a strategy conducted in an institution specialized in the field of visual impairment. The research participants were two blind students. For data collection, field diary records were used, as well as the photographic record. The activities were planned using the Paulo Freire’s method, adapted for teaching the braille code. The results reveal that the use of this method contributed to the literacy process of blind participants, in the writing and Reading of the braille code, as well as, in the processo of their awareness, to enable them to understand in the social, historical and political contexts for new discoveries and world readings.
