This report presents the experience developed by the Educational Technology Center of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (CTE/Uerj) which resulted in the transformation of its Video Library into an Audiovisual Memory Center (NuMA/Uerj). Its creation is the result of a research project funded by a notice from the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support in the State of Rio de Janeiro – FAPERJ. The text reports the dialogue between technological modernization and a multidisciplinary concern with the importance of audiovisual sources in the production of meaning and dissemination of academic knowledge. It also brings a conversation about the relationship between memory and history, culminating in the transformations that occurred in the processes of guarding, preserving and using these narratives as sources for institutional history.
KEYWORDS: Audiovisual; Memory; Institutional History, NuMA.
