This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Barão do Rio Branco school group in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul-Acre, highlighting the institution's contributions to the socio-cultural development of the local population. The qualitative approach was used, through bibliographic, documentary and field research, with the use of semi-structured interviews. The results show that the implementation of the school group in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, had as main goal to meet the educational demand of the region, which suffered from the lack of institutions that offered physical and pedagogical conditions to the school-age population. Even so, it is concluded that this institution suffered the neglect of the State authorities, regarding the lack of didactic and pedagogical materials.
