Abstract

This article presents results of the first phase of the ongoing research entitled ‘Funding policies for Higher Education expansion in post-LDB Brazil’, and presents a critical assessment of the scientific production on the theme of higher education funding policies, in the 1996-2009 period. Articles published in five national journals were selected for the research. The results indicate that there is a scarcity of research on the theme and point to the need for further studies on higher education funding because of its relevance for the understanding of educational policies.
