Abstract

In an eff ort to demonstrate that for at least fi ft y years the Brazilianprofessionals have been discussing which references should guide the teaching ofHistory, the texts of Emília Viotti da Costa, written between 1957 and 1963, areused to support such idea. Here, we present some elements of a debate that hasbeen acknowledged on some occasions by the professionals of history, but not yetmanaged by the category, concerning which references should be used for the choiceof contents and/or objectives of this curricular component.
