Educação Física escolar e saúde: uma análise a partir do currículo da cidade de São Paulo

To identify how health topic is approached in the ‘City Curriculum: Physical Education’, implemented in São Paulo's municipal public schools, a documentary analysis of the material was conducted. It was observed that health is addressed beginning in the 5th grade, within the Gymnastics Thematic Axis, with highlights including: (I) the promotion of health care and maintenance through regular physical activity and (II) approaches related to performance standards, health, and beauty. Finally, although the material advocates for adopting and maintaining a physically active lifestyle, the focus on health is limited to the Gymnastics Thematic Axis, which limits approaches in other areas of school Physical Education.
