The article analyzes the trajectory and challenges of professional formation in Physical Education, with an emphasis on the experience of a public Higher Education Institution in the state of Goiás in implementing dual formation (integrated licentiate and bachelor’s degrees). Grounded in Historical-Dialectical Materialism, it criticizes the fragmentation of formation and the hegemony of the private sector and professional councils. It upholds teaching as central to Physical Education formation and denounces the setbacks brought about by recent guidelines. The defense of integrated formation is presented as resistance to capitalist logic and also as a strategy for qualification and expansion of professional intervention in different fields.
