Abstract

Several issues school face in their daily lives to fulfill the task of educating. Among them are prejudices and ethnic-racial discrimination. Investigating how Physical Education teachers deal with these themes in their classes and to what extent the playful presence in the early years of Elementary School includes and portrays ethnic-racial diversity was the objective of this investigation. The methodology included field observation and interviews. The findings point to the great use of recreational activities, however, they indicate a scenario of silence in discussions involving ethnic-racial themes. It was found that the limitations in dealing with these issues come up against academic training, but not only.
